Maletcha Coffee & Eatery was established alongside the Camellia Seed Oil and Other Vegetable Oil Research and Development Center project. The name “Maletcha” was graciously bestowed by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The restaurant’s logo features a fully bloomed white tea flower with yellow stamens, accompanied by a dark brown seed pod beneath the petals, supported by a fresh green stem, with the restaurant’s name in green beside it.
Maletcha Coffee & Eatery embraces the concept of blending nature with modernity while incorporating the charm of contemporary Lanna style (Modern Contemporary Lanna). Located on the east wing of the research center, the restaurant is set in a tranquil riverside garden, surrounded by diverse plant species. The ambiance is comfortable, offering various seating zones to provide guests with a sensory dining experience in terms of sight, taste, aroma, sound, and touch. The restaurant is designed to ensure privacy, serenity, and relaxation.
All dishes at Maletcha Coffee & Eatery are carefully prepared using high-quality Camellia seed oil, sourced by the Camellia Seed Oil Research and Development Center. This makes Maletcha Coffee & Eatery the first restaurant in Thailand to cook with Camellia seed oil, which is cultivated in the highlands of Northern Thailand.
Additionally, the restaurant has received royal patronage from Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, who graciously provided exclusive recipes to Maletcha Coffee & Eatery. These include Spicy Minced Pork with Camellia Seed Oil, Strawberry Salad with Perilla Oil, Spicy Pork Salad, Spaghetti with Dried Chili and Camellia Seed Oil, Stir-Fried Noodles with Chicken and Camellia Seed Oil, Mashed Potato Croquettes (Bacon), and Tomato Soup. These royal recipes have become highly popular among visitors. Apart from the royal menu, the restaurant also offers other beloved dishes, such as Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken, Butterfly Pea Glass Noodle Salad with Shrimp and Minced Pork, as well as a selection of teas and coffees.
