Chui Fong Tea , Chiang Rai
Many people are likely familiar with the grandeur of this tea plantation, which has served as a stunning backdrop in several popular TV dramas and numerous green tea product advertisements. The lush greenery, with rows upon rows of tea leaves cascading down the intricate terraces of the mountain ranges, contrasted against the vivid blue sky, creates an unforgettable impression that continuously attracts tourists to visit Chui Fong Tea Plantation.
Spanning over 1,200 acres in Mae Chan and Mae Fa Luang districts of Chiang Rai Province, Chui Fong Tea Plantation holds more stories than what has been seen on screen through TV dramas.

For over 40 years, from a once barren and desolate land in Doi Phaya Phrai, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province, Mr. Tawee Vanuspitakul has fought and pioneered, dedicating himself to the development of tea cultivation with relentless determination. He is the origin of the inspiration and story behind Chui Fong Tea Plantation.
Recognizing tea as a plant with immense benefits, widely accepted worldwide and with the potential to become a significant economic crop that could generate income for local villagers in the future, he began encouraging villagers in the area and nearby communities to join hands in developing the land and seriously start cultivating tea.
Considered the pioneer of tea plantation development, Mr. Tawee transformed this region into the largest tea-producing area in the country. His efforts led to a significant improvement in the livelihoods of the local villagers and hill tribe communities, bringing about a positive change in their way of life.
“Choui Fong” means “Green Peak,” a name given to this tea plantation by Khun Tawee when he first started growing tea. Although he is no longer here to witness the success of the plantation he built with his own hands, the second-generation heirs have continued to carry on his dream and spirit.

Choui Fong Tea Plantation today is captivating with its enchanting shades of green, as tea plants cascade down in terraced rows. The harmony of lush tea fields, the way of life of the hill tribe people, the crisp, fresh air, and the breathtaking scenery create a perfect blend of pure nature.
A visit to Choui Fong Tea Plantation is already a rewarding experience, even if you simply take your time capturing beautiful moments from various scenic spots. But if you take it a step further by joining the hill tribe workers—dressed in their vibrant traditional attire—to carry a basket and handpick tea leaves alongside them, the visit becomes even more exciting and immersive.
For those who have wandered through the plantation and need a break, there’s nothing better than relaxing, enjoying the cool breeze, and sipping on freshly brewed tea while taking in the panoramic views. Be sure to visit one of the two on-site cafés: Choui Fong Tea Café 1 and Choui Fong Tea Café 2, where you can unwind and indulge in the flavors of the plantation’s finest teas.
