In 2018, the site gained worldwide attention due to the Tham Luang Cave Rescue incident. Thirteen members of the Wild Boars Academy football team became trapped inside Tham Luang Cave, unable to find their way out. The Chiang Rai Provincial Government declared the area a disaster emergency zone, and a command center was established to coordinate an urgent search and rescue operation.
The rescue mission became one of the most significant operations in history, as experts and personnel from around the world collaborated in a unified effort. After days of intense coordination, all 13 individuals were successfully rescued. The operation drew global media attention, making Tham Luang – Khun Nam Nang Non Forest Park internationally recognized. Since then, it has become a major tourist attraction, attracting visitors from Thailand and around the world who wish to witness the site of this historic event.
