The facility serves as a production plant for Camellia seed oil and other vegetable oils, as well as a learning center focused on various oil-producing plants and medicinal herbs.
This project is a Royal Initiative.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn granted the royal directive to establish the “Research and Development Center for Tea Oil and Oil Plants”, also known as the “Research and Development Center for Camellia Seed Oil and Other Vegetable Oils”, in Wiang Phang Kham Subdistrict, Mae Sai District, Chiang Rai Province, in 2011.
The center was founded to serve as a knowledge hub for research on Camellia oleifera seed oil and other oil-producing plants. Additionally, it functions as a high-quality oil production plant, producing oil for consumption and use in cosmetics. The center also utilizes by-products from the oil extraction process, ensuring that every part of the plant is efficiently used to its fullest potential.
