The Phra Borommathat Si Nakarindra Sathit Maha Santikhiri Chedi is home to a life-sized statue of Princess Mother (Somdet Ya), enshrining her royal relics as well as the Buddha’s relics.
Situated at the highest peak of Doi Mae Salong, at an elevation of 1,500 meters above sea level, this sacred chedi was completed around 1996 as a royal tribute to Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother.
The structure is an adapted Lanna-style chedi, featuring a square base measuring approximately 15 meters per side and standing 30 meters tall. The chedi is intricately decorated with ornate carvings, gray ceramic tiles, and three arched niches on each side. Surrounding the chedi, four standing Buddha statues are placed facing the four cardinal directions, while the main bell-shaped body is adorned with gold plates.
Adjacent to the chedi, there is a beautifully crafted Lanna-style viharn (hall) that enhances the spiritual ambiance of the site. As it is positioned at the highest point of Doi Mae Salong, the area offers a 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and forests. This makes it an ideal viewpoint, especially during sunset, when the landscape is bathed in breathtaking golden hues.
