The Mae Fah Luang Arboretum is located in Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province. It is the highest point on Doi Chang Mub, with an elevation of over 1,500 meters above sea level. Situated along the Thai-Myanmar border, this arboretum is home to a diverse collection of rare plant species.
This area was once the largest opium plantation on Doi Tung. Today, it has been transformed into the Mae Fah Luang Arboretum, a 63-rai nature-rich botanical garden. Doi Chang Mub, located along the Thai-Myanmar border, is the highest peak of the Nang Non Mountain Range and enjoys a cool climate all year round. The area is covered with pine forests and rare plant species, especially various types of Rhododendrons in multiple colors. It is also a prime spot for birdwatching, featuring both native and migratory bird species. Additionally, visitors can participate in the “Young Guide” program, where young guides lead nature trails around the area.
