Located at Ban Hua Mae Kham, Village No. 4, Mae Salong Nai Subdistrict, Mae Fa Luang District, Chiang Rai Province.
Doi Hua Mae Kham is home to Hmong, Lisu, and Akha hill tribe villages. It is situated at an altitude of 1,850 meters above sea level. The route to Doi Hua Mae Kham follows the old Doi Mae Salong route (1130), then turns right at the Akha intersection, passing Ban Thoed Thai until reaching Ban Mae Kham. The distance from Chiang Rai city is 100 km, with a travel time of approximately 2 hours.
It is a popular spot for sunrise and sea mist viewing. Particularly from mid-November to early December, the entire valley is covered with blooming Mexican sunflowers, creating a picturesque view alongside the hill tribe villages.
The Mexican sunflowers bloom only once a year, starting in early November and reaching full bloom around mid-November. During this period, the “Dok Bua Tong Blooming Festival at Doi Hua Mae Kham” is held, attracting many visitors. Hill tribe people wear their traditional attire and perform cultural dances. After the festival, the area becomes quieter, and by late November, the flowers begin to wither.
